The Day Was Against Us

B was off New Year's Day so we decided to start the year off by making some memories (see previous post).

We had a day chalk full of fun planned- a 5 hour chunk at Fiesta Fun Center to do laser tag, bowling, etc; dinner at Denny's; an hour walk to the park and play; milkshakes and maybe a movie in the evening!

Except....

I kind of slept in.

And it was cold.

And we needed to give the girls their New Year's Day beanies.

So I opted for bowling and laser tag instead of the 5 hour chunk and Denny's for lunch.

Except....

It was insanely busy there. Everyone and their mom was there and it LITERALLY took us almost 2 hours from beginning to end.

So, we hopped over to Fiesta Fun Center to play a game of bowling and a round or two of laser tag.

Except....

It was an almost 2 hour wait for bowling and just waiting in line to even ASK about laser tag was edging on 20 minutes.

So we decided to look at the movies at the cheap theater and BEHOLD, there was one starting in like 40 minutes! We ran home, got the popcorn bucket and got to the theater. We were probably going to miss out on the walk and the park since it was getting late, but that's okay!

Except....

The theater was PACKED and there was only 3 seats together in the front.

So, we got our bucket filled with popcorn and went home to watch that same movie.

Except....

It wouldn't load. It wasn't working. We tried another one. That was not working. By this time, everyone's morale was starting to plummet and we had already almost eaten the bucket of popcorn.

FINALLY- we got The House With The Clock In Its Walls to work and we watched that while finishing up the popcorn. We had some leftovers for dinner and then made milkshakes.

EXCEPT....

I didn't notice the blades were missing from the container and I poured milk into it....which came out EVERYWHERE.

Easy to clean up, milkshakes were made, children put to bed and we finally went for an evening walk.

And even though it seemed like the day was against us, we still had fun. I think January 1st, 2019 will go down as the day we tried to do everything and ended up doing nothing.

An epic start to an epic year.
