Guest Blog- Cuteness Overload

Hey there! Welcome to my bliggity blog!! Today, I'm helping out my friend, Amber, with a school assignment, by letting her do a guest blog. Check it out!

Capturing Precious Time

Time. How can it be quantified? In decades, years, weeks, days, minutes, seconds? Depending on who is asked, the answer to this question will vary greatly. Most parents though, will tell you that no matter how it is measured, time goes too quickly. Their newborn quickly becomes a toddler, then a kindergartener, then suddenly they are starting and graduating high school and college, and creating a beautiful life of their own. Making the best of the snippets of time allotted to each stage of life is sometimes easier said than done. One way that parents are saving these snippets of time is through photos. In particular, newborn photos are becoming more popular. Now props such as faux furs, baskets, crates, hats, and wraps are used regularly to capture the preciousness of the stage that goes so quickly.

Cuteness Overload

Not only do the moments go so quickly, they also can become a memory that slowly fades and becomes fuzzy. Capturing this time with a photo is the simplest and one the of the most cherished ways to always have the memory close. This milestone, while important, is not always the easiest moment to capture in still time. The specific poses and positions can be difficult with a fussy or uncooperative newborn. Finding the right photographer and setting is the trick to getting it just right. Another factor is the props and additions you choose to add to the special moment. The cutest character hat, angel wings, flower headband, diaper cover, blanket, crate, or little side-by-side accessories can add so much uniqueness as well as cuteness to what your newborn or baby already brings to the shoot.

The Perfect View
There is no guarantee that your baby is going to cooperate for pictures. There are a few tricks that can help in the process though. One of the most important aspects is that your newborn or baby is comfortable. Items you choose to add to the shoot need to be soft and cozy rather than itchy. The fabric and yarn type really do matter and can make a huge difference in their behavior. Another trick is to have mom or dad lay down and be what the baby sleeps, lays, or sleeps on to help them feel more at home and then they can also hear mom or dad’s heartbeat. Knowing what is going to keep your baby clam and collected is the best way to ensure the best possible experience. If they have a favorite blanket, hat, stuffed animal, etc that they use a lot, try to integrate that into the pictures. If you find an item that you know you want to use for the photoshoot, it is smart to begin using it in everyday activities. This allows them to begin to bond with it and become comfortable with the texture and feel. Some items it is not possible to do so with and that’s fine, but these little tricks can make a huge difference in how your newborn or baby acts while in front of the camera.
