Happy Belated 4th of July!

Piper and I spent the holiday weekend in Heber, AZ, as I mentioned in the previous post. We had a lot of fun! We spent the 4th at a festival and the 5th watching both a parade and fireworks. Needless to say, both days were an adventure.

Funny story, then pictures:
First of all, it had been thundering most of the afternoon. We wanted to get back to the cabin before it started to rain. Second of all, I had a hankering for Indian Fry Bread, which they just happened to have at the festival. And it was the good Indian Fry Bread too, not the small, crunchy, pinto bean type. As I ordered for the entire family (4 beans and cheese, 1 honey and powdered sugar), I felt a PLOP! PLOP! Then the biggest downpour of my life was thrust upon me as I stood in front of the Fry Bread stand with no cover at all. I was soaked in a matter of minutes. But I wasn't leaving without my fry bread! Overall, I ended up a sopping mess, but not a HUNGRY sopping mess!

Piper just chilling in her stroller.

Unleashing the wild beast (or letting Piper run around).

Can you tell that Piper shared a snowcone with Grammie?

Who's having more fun here?

I think Piper did; Grammie banged her knees on the car one too many times.

Piper checking out a goat at the petting zoo. Later on, she tried to stick her finger in its mouth.

Piper and I petting a furry (?) chicken. It was pretty cool. Piper had more fun chasing the chickens than petting them, in my opinion.

She also wanted to play in the nasty, dirty, poopy water dishes.

Checking out the bunnies.

Another funny story, then pictures:
The 5th of July: I had read in the newspaper earlier that week that at the parade, the fire trucks were going to be spraying water onto the parade-watchers. But in lieu of the huge storm the day before, I figured that the water would be a no-go. I was wrong. Not only did every fire truck that passed by spray everyone in water, most other vehicles were filled with water balloons and super-soakers. Piper did NOT like getting wet, so she spent most of the parade in Grammie's arms out in the forest. I got hit right in the belly with a water balloon...yay. The very last fire truck was hosing everyone down and we (me and Court) ducked behind an umbrella to save the worst of it...except my whole right side was not covered. At least it was warm outside and we dried off quickly!

Here's the parade group: GG (Grandma), Courtney, Mia, Chelsea, Grammie (Mom) and Piper.

Mia looking oh-so-cute! And Courtney too!

Chelsea and Piper sliding at the playground.

Piper chowing down on a corn-on-the-cob.

I think that was a huge bite.

Sweet story, then pictures:
Fireworks: Piper was up way past her bedtime and was very tired/cranky. When the fireworks began, she was very unhappy. She cuddled with me, cried, walked over to GG, cuddled, cried, came back to me, cried some more, went over to Grammie and fell asleep in her arms, underneath a sweater. Awwww! Every time Mom checked on her to see if she was okay, she would growl at her!

Everyone's ready for fireworks!

And I'm in a picture too!

Sleepy Piper and Grammie.

Mia all bundled up!

We really did have a fun 4th/5th in spite of the mishaps! It only made for a great memory!
