I look at this girl
and realize she had no idea what her life was going to be like.
She had grand dreams of becoming some famous musician, traveling the world. She thought she knew what she wanted, but wasn't confident enough to chase after it. She wanted to be liked. She thought she was all that and more. She was a pretender; she was always waiting for the other shoe to fall.
She had no idea how all of that was nothing compared to what God had planned for her.
If you would have asked her if she would have ever left San Diego, she would have laughed at you. Never in her wildest dreams would she have imagined herself living in a little town in Utah as a stay-at-home mom to three little girls, married to a supercool man.
But life is better than she ever knew it could be. She never knew happiness the way she does now. She never knew how much she was treasured like she sees every day when little faces smile up at her. She didn't know sadness, such as would make your heart hurt. And she didn't know peace that Jesus could give you when that sadness came. And yah, she never became that famous musician, but she found a much greater joy in singing His praises where He has called her to.
Ten years ago. That's not even a long period of time. That's nothing. But in ten years, her life flip flopped in a direction that she wasn't planning on heading. And I thank God for that. Every. Day.

Yep, sometimes life has a funny way of doing the opposite of what we had planned. Thank the Lord for that, huh? :-)
