Oh Grand Junction, What's Your Function?

Ah, Schoolhouse Rock...those were the days.

OH, ahem, uh, yes, hello and welcome to my blog.

I had decided to take today off from leading worship so that I could unwind from the chaos of Christmas. WE (meaning me) decided that we were going to take a road trip. If you know us, you know we love road trips. We drive everywhere. We like to take drives on Saturdays/Sundays just to get out of the house.

This time, we decided to do an overnighter. I mentioned that I had never been to Colorado, so we picked the nearest city to the border of Utah/Colorado within a decent driving distance and booked a hotel room. That city happened to be Grand Junction.

Did we know someone there? Was there something/someplace we wanted to visit within or around Grand Junction?

Nope.

We didn't even hang around long enough to "sight-see". We got in last night, slept, woke up and headed back home. The joy of it was the scenery, the snow, the COLD temperatures (yes folks, -7 degrees) and the bonding between Bryce and I. Endless hours of talking in the front seat, laughing over things, singing songs. Taking pit stops at cool looking view points or rest stops just for the heck of it; watching Sam throw snow down Piper's plumber pants; laughing when Scarlet actually beaned me in the face with some snow.

It was awesome. And we can't wait to do it again. We've already found a couple places along the way that we want to come back to.

Like this place (Cove Fort)-
supposed to be crazy fun in the spring time.

Now, I could show you the TONS of scenery photos that I took....or you could see the ones that made me laugh:

I will most likely never get a serious picture for YEARS.
And I'm totally cool with that.

Scarlet showing me that her
hand was in her glove all along.
Wow.

Bryce taking a picture of himself for some reason.
Apparently he is channeling his inner Cassandra.

Sam HAD to go potty,
which is why we take a little one just in case.
Poor thing was freezing.
I think it was only 17 degrees out?

Me attempting to show you where
Bryce punched me in the mouth.
As you can see, he is manhandling me like an angry celeb.
It's not my fault his fist was
where I was turning my head!

I love all the faces in this pic.
And no, I don't know what Piper is doing.

AND THE WINNING PICTURE IS...

Piper thought she was sooo cool, walking with her
hands in her pockets...
until she stepped into some deep snow.
She was laughing, saying, "I'm stuck! I'm stuck!"
And me, the awesome mom, took a picture instead.
