30-15: Transformation Central

This time, it's not me!!!!!

Check out my sweet little Pippa, Piper D, Pippy, 9-going-on-13 daughter of mine:

She's so beautiful. But....her hair, GIVE ME STRENGTH, is insane. I had hair just like her as a kid and both of us never brushed it. She doesn't like me to fix it and thank goodness her insane obsession with knitted headbands is over. It was time for a change.

And change we did....TRANSFORMATION CENTRAL:

Can you believe it? This sweet, special fairy-like creature is all mine. She feels so free, weightless and couldn't stop smiling. We modeled headbands and hairbows

and she still kept smiling. I couldn't believe how different she looks.

And, of course, it got me thinking about how we can change one aspect of ourselves and seem like a different person. Take appearances: we cut our hair, we look totally different. We color our hair, we look totally different. We lose some weight, put on some weight, try different eye liner, wear a different color shirt than normal....we look different.

Is it possible to do the same thing with who we are? Can we change something about ourselves and seem like a different person? I think it depends on what it is that you change and who notices it.

We stop gossiping. Yes, we are different, but we don't look like a different person. To some, we are the same because they didn't know us in that way to begin with. To others, they like the way it looks on us. And to some, they don't like it at all because maybe they were the one who gossiped with us and now think we're trying to be "better than" they are.

We start loving our neighbor more than ourselves. Yes, we are different, but we don't look like a different person. To some, we are the same because they didn't know us in that way to begin with. To others, they like the way it looks on us. And to some, they don't like it at all because that person doesn't deserve it.

Etc, etc, etc.

But you know who notices every time, whether it is an appearance or an attribute? God does. And mainly, He cares about who we are rather than what we look like. To Him, we can come as we are. Short hair, long hair, big, small, broken, "fixed". But to change from the inside out, He loves it. He encourages it. He desires it. And we should desire it too.

What is it that you need to change, that you desire to change, from the inside out? Me, I'm working on opening my heart to others so I can be blessed with friendships/relationships that I never would have known existed. It's hard, but I want to be THAT person.
