Day Nineteen- The First Day, Coffee Got Me Through It & Weather

Is it fall yet? My heater just asked me today if I still loved it because I haven't used it at all. At least I've been dusting it...

So yah, today was OUR FIRST OFFICIAL DAY BACK AT SCHOOL!

Oh, Sam...she looks so excited.

I can't believe how big they are. I mean, I see them every day, but to see them in a different light sometimes shocks me on a whole different level. I get sad...then happy...and sad again...then happy. I don't want them to grow up, but I'm glad they're growing up happy & healthy. Oh, torn is not a place I love.

They changed our schedule a bit, so today was actually easy. It was mostly orientation, but tomorrow we start all of our courses. Two full-time students...coffee got me through today, BUT tomorrow is going to be THE DAY where I'll need it the most!

One last thing...I bought Piper's books today for Literature & Comprehension, where we get to choose the book we want...I am so excited for her! She's reading "Little House on the Prairie", "Charlotte's Web" & "Mrs. Frisbee and the Rats of Nimh"! I can't wait for her to fall in love with these books!

*begin rant* I am told every year that I am ruining my kids, that they aren't developing social skills, that I should leave the teaching to the teachers. And you know what? It's okay. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. My girls are happy, healthy, learning and they still are developing social skills. They are learning how to interact with kids of all ages and adults as well. I feel pretty good about that. AND I'm not teaching them! They have real teachers that talk to them, tutor them and have online classes with them. My job is to ensure that they are doing their work! And I love it! I love having my girls with me all day long and I would miss them so much if they were gone. One day, they might choose to attend a brick & mortar school. Until then, this is our lifestyle. *end rant*

Here's to another banner year with UTVA!

Well, off to relax for the evening and eat a Pop Tart. And finish my chai. I said good day.
GOOD. DAY.
