Why?
Piper's school held their kindergarten graduation today (virtually, of course). We did not attend nor did I submit a picture for the ceremony. I did this because I just don't see the point of a child graduating each and every grade. This, to me, makes the one, true graduation from high school to be somewhat dummed down. Yes, be proud of all you accomplished this past year, sweet Piper. You learned to read, do addition and subtraction...you rocked your kindergarten year. But you didn't graduate. You finished the year and finished it with a bang! Way to go!
Now let's CELEBRATE.
So we did. She has been wanting to get her ears pierced. Today, we made that happen. My sister and her two boys happened to be visiting, so ALL of us (including Bryce) took her to Claire's at our "mall" and got her ears pierced by a sweet employee named Alan (wherever you are, dear Alan, you made my daughter's day and I commend you for that....and thank you for letting me take pictures even though it's against policy).
For your viewing pleasure, the piercing of the Piper:
All smiles and super excited (I think nervous too, but she said she wasn't).
Um, yes, it actually does hurt, Piper. Thanks for not believing me.
Not cool, Mom...not cool.
Seeing herself for the first time with her new earrings...priceless.
(Yah, Scarlet was busy being a gansta at the ride-on toys with her cousin.)
(And yes, that's blue hair.)
Very proud and oh yah, it didn't really hurt at all.
Diva in the making....well, okay, she is one already.
Piper Diane....we made it alive through our first year of homeschool. Congratulations on completing kindergarten and your newly minted hearing holes! And thank you Aunt Nichole for letting Piper sit on your lap!
