Little House, Little Wonders

Let's face it...our backyard leaves much to be desired; however, it is a work-in-progress.

Normally, I don't let the girls play back there because
1.
It's all rocks. No grass. Just rocks. I know kids like rocks, but in the desert, we have scorpions and cockroaches that like to live in rocks.

2.
It's too hot. By the time Samantha could walk well, I was sick with morning sickness. By the time I was over morning sickness, summer was here. Yuck.

3.
We don't really have any fencing to keep the girls in the backyard. We have one fence to keep them from falling into the neighbor's yard and that's it.

Excuses, excuses...I know.

BUT!!!! That has been remedied by
1.
The weather being extremely nice AND

2.
Our friends, the Naegeli Family, gave us their little playhouse!

I grew up playing in a playhouse. Granted, Bryce wants to make them one, but you can't say no to "now" and "free".

And they love it.
Absolutely, dirty hands, scratched knees and sweaty brows love it.

Now, I let them play outside as much as they want.

One downside though...

Piper and Sam came into our bedroom the other day because Piper wanted to show me a feather she had found.

Um, it was an entire bird wing.

Needless to say, I think that this weekend I'll be spending some time in the backyard, de-bugging and de-birding it.
